Preparation of salt dough sculpting:

Step 1: prepare the dough.

In order for us to make beautiful figures from salt dough, first of all, you need to make a quality product without sparing the components and your strengths. Therefore, to begin with, pour salt and flour into a deep bowl. Attention: the last ingredient is not necessary to take the highest grade, the main thing is that it be a good proven brand, so that it contains as little lumps as possible. After - pour ordinary water into the container. Knead the dough with your hands or a tablespoon. When the mass begins to acquire uniformity, transfer it to the prepared kitchen table, powdered with flour. Keep kneading the dough until it stops sticking to your hands. Take this process very carefully. Just as if you were preparing the dough for homemade baking - if the dough continues to stick to your hands, add a little flour, and if it crumbles, add a small amount of water. After this, we wrap the test product in a plastic wrap or plastic bag, since such a dough wears very quickly and loses its beautiful-looking appearance. We leave in this state the main component to infuse for 10-20 minutesbefore sculpting any of it.

Step 2: prepare a molding of salt dough.

Salt dough is a real art. This is especially interesting for children! After all, modeling not only affects the development of the child, but also improves the mood not only for the smallest, but also for adults. And you can sculpt different figures from the dough for any holidays. For example, on New Year’s it’s possible to mold a snowman and Santa Claus, on Valentine's Day to make a craft in the shape of a heart and give your other half a handmade gift, and on Easter to mold bunnies and eggs. That is why, for a good example, today we are blinding the last figure, since such animals are very cute and beautiful, and they are also very easy to sculpt. Thus, we will raise our loved ones and ourselves and fantasize a little. So, cut on a cutting board a small two pieces of dough and hands form two oval balls in the shape of an egg. In this case, one piece should be larger than the other, as this will be the body of the rabbit and the head. Then in the body of the future animal we insert a toothpick in the place where the neck should be. Attention: since the toothpick is very long, one sharp end, which is in the body, can be broken off. And on the other end of the toothpick we dress the bunny’s head. At the same time, do not forget to moisten the base of the head with a small amount of water so that it better attaches to the body of the craft. Then we tear off our hands 7 small pieces from a dough the size of four legs, a tail and two ears. We form 5 balls and 2 pieces in the form of a “sausage” from them. We wet the end of the balls with water and hands fix the pieces of dough in those places of the body where the bunny has paws and a tail. We give the legs an oblong shape, as you like best. And for the ears to stand, we break one toothpick into two equal parts and insert them into the test head at a small distance from each other with a blunt end inward. Now we put on each toothpick a test "sausage" moistened on one side with ordinary water too. Hands give the shape of the dough to the ears and move on to the next step in the preparation of sculpting from salt dough. We lay out the formed figure on a baking sheet covered with baking paper. And after - we put it in the oven at the temperature 95-120 ° C for 1-2 hours. Attention: sculpting time depends on the density of the dough. In fact, for the figure to stand as long as possible, it must be very dense in consistency, literally like a stone. Therefore, the preparation of the figures also depends on the oven itself, on the quality of the flour and the time of kneading the dough. Therefore, the longer the dough is baked in the oven, the denser it will be. The only thing the oven can affect is the color of the item. But, if you continue to use paints, then this will not affect the outcome of our work. So, after the allotted time for cooking the rabbit, turn off the oven and take out the pan so that the figure can cool down and become room temperature. I get a whole family of bunnies. And now we need to properly process the product from salt dough. In this matter, paints, glue and other improvised materials will help us. In order for the bunny to stand for a long time, we coat it with glue for decoupage, using an ordinary small brush. Attention: Before use, shake the container with inventory and try to smear all the cracks and the junction of the trunk with other parts of the body of the bunny. After - set the figures aside so that the glue can cool. The approximate drying time will take us somewhere 20-40 minutes. And now, using brushes and paints, we color our crafts as you like best. Important: Be sure to clean the brushes with paper towels so that we do not mix the colors. And also we do not save paints to paint over the dough tightly, especially in those places where the test product has become darker after baking. We leave the bunny for a while aside so that the paint dries, and we can continue to decorate the figures. Across 20-30 minutes Using a thin brush, draw the eyes and nose of the rabbit. At the end, we cover the modeling of salt dough with any varnish and leave aside for 1-2 hours, then to see the end result.

Step 3: serve the salted dough.

With such beautiful figures you can decorate the holiday table or just give it to the children for joy. the main thingso that they do not gnaw them, since the material for the manufacture of products, although from edible products, but the figures are processed is not from the inventory that is useful for children. Therefore, children under three years old are not recommended to play with such crafts. Have a nice holiday table!

Recipe Tips:

- - To make the dough more pleasant to work with, you can add various spices to it, for example, cinnamon or vanilla, as well as cumin, paprika or curry.

- - In order for you to get the dough without lumps, you can sift the flour through a sieve. This way you can save a few minutes of your time.

- - To give the dough a specific color, you can dye the water itself and knead the dough.

- - When we sculpt the figures together with the children, it is best to cover the product with glue and varnish without the kids so that they do not smell chemistry. And so, for the preparation of dough and for coloring crafts, a couple of small, but very crazy pens will not hurt us.

- - You can store the dough in the refrigerator, but not more than 2-3 days. Only in this case we pack it in a plastic bag or cling film so that the dough is not weathered and saturated with extraneous odors of other food.
